The Winter has borne good tidings for King Gustav III. His folly war has proved prestigious for Sweden, seeing her colonial possessions reacquired and even the city of Helsingor seized. His march across the Öresund has surely turned heads the world over.
It is on the back of this success that Gustav III has received what he sees as the best news yet- the Royal Navy has allowed Horatio Nelsion to serve in the Swedish Navy. The young Nelson, barely a man of 30 has already proven himself in Britain’s last war against the French and now, he has a chance to prove himself at war against Russia. Hastily, the King scribbled his commands by candle light in his private bedroom in the newly captured Kronborg Castle, awaiting the Öresund to thaw so that Danish fleets can fulfill their promise and deliver the Swedes back to Sweden.
The King is sure that Nelson will be the deciding factor in the war against the Russians. The King writes three orders- one to his fleet in Karlskrona, where Nelson will arrive posthaste, one to his army in Kuovola, and one to his military commanders in Stockholm…
