Dearest Thomas Jefferson, ambassador to France,

How are you? I fondly remember some nine years ago, when I was the first to recognize that your nation is one of those chosen by God to remain sovereign despite all other threats. Since then, as I am sure you are aware, we have maintained a policy of free trade between our lands.

However, my friend Thomas, there is a threat to that free trade. Denmark may attempt to close the Sound Toll in the spring, and cut off our two lands. Russia, currently fiercely attacking my fleets in the Baltic will prevent any of my fleets leaving Stockholm. However, I am at Copenhagen’s doorstep, ready to sue for peace. I come to you to ask for your assistance in matters of diplomacy.

We ask that the United States encourage Denmark to accept the terms of the peace that I have proposed. For this, Sweden will gladly offer toll free passage through the Öresund for the American fleets. We would also like to sign a formal treaty of free trade for 100 years!

We would also like to extend the privilege of free trade with the United States to our Caribbean colonies and our soon to be reacquired African colonies, and the ability to open businesses in any of these colonies.

Furthermore, we would like to welcome an ambassadorial exchange between our two nations with a Swedish Ambassador taking up residence in your nation and an American Ambassador taking up residence in Stockholm.
