I trust that you have heard of my resounding victory against the Danes at Gothenburg, which could not have been arranged without the diplomats from your court. It is thus that I write to you, while departing Gothenburg en route to Helsingborg. I intend to cross the Öresund and strike a decisive blow against the Danes.

I am sure you are aware, Dearest George the Third, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, Archtreasurer and Prince-elector of the Holy Roman Empire, that the Danes are our common ally, threatening the trade between our two fair countries and your supremacy in the North Sea.

There is another common enemy that we have O George the Third, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, Archtreasurer and Prince-elector of the Holy Roman Empire, and that is the Tsardom of Russia. This fiercely aggressive and expansionistic group of heretics has been a thorn in both of our sides.

After what will surely be a resounding victory against the Danes in March, I wish to turn my attention to Russia and this is where I need your assistance.While I do not necessarily expect you to join my war outright, I would first and foremost like to establish a defensive alliance between our two states, so that we may come to eachothers aid in the future. I propose that my sister, the young Sophia Maria Lovisa Frederika Albertina (born 1753) be wed to your son, George Augustus Frederick so that we may formally solidify an alliance between our two states.

I would further request your aid on two fronts. There is a talented young vice admiral in your Royal Navy, one Horatio Nelson. As Great Britain has been at peace for a year now, this young and ambitious admiral has been languishing at home, on half pay, and with no command. I propose that Great Britain send an “expeditionary force” of two man o’ wars, seven ships of the line, and eight frigates, under the command of this Horatio Nelson to assist us against the Russian fleet in the Baltic. We would gladly support some part of this expeditionary force and, when we achieve victory against the Russians, you can be assured that peace will include reparations to pay for your fleet.

Should you choose not to send vessels, we ask that Horatio Nelson be given leave to serve the Swedish King for the duration of our war, and assume command of our Navy. He will be given prestige and payment equal to his yearly payment when active in the Royal Navy of Great Britain. We invite any of his sailors and officers positions in our navy as well.
