Before Aztlán, the seven Nahualteca tribes lived in seven caves, the location of which has been lost to time. The seven tribes - the Acolhua, the Azteca, the Tepaneca, the Tlahuica, the Tlaxcalteca, and the Xochimilca - emerged from their dwellings, in search of an earthly paradise, and travelled until they reached a great salt lake. Although not being capable of sustaining the usages one might expect from a lake, it seemed - in the infinite wisdom of the elders (or whoever it was who decided to settle down there) - seemed as good a place as any to call it a day. However, as generations passed, the infinite wisdom of the elders seemed less and less important, and the people of Aztlán were beginning to wonder if it was time to abandon paradise.
