Liag Lian, the so-called "Pirate Queen of Sulawesi", seemed nearly superhuman in her efforts to spark another uprising across the island she called home.
Despite becoming more and more visibly pregnant every day, and being the most wanted woman across both the Empire and the Triple Alliance, she managed to make appearences among supporters across Sulawesi day in and day out. From Makassar to Palu, to villages across the northern coastline and towns high in the mountains, Liag was seemingly everywhere. Ideas that no one had dared to think for the last decade were suddenly at the forefront of conversation, and support was spreading quickly. Word made it back to Emperor Sampan in Kuching, who was understandably... upset.
"I GAVE YOU ALL ONE JOB. ONE!!! STOP A SINGLE FUCKING WOMAN FROM ENTERING CITIES THAT WE CONTROL!!! AND NOT ONLY HAS SHE MANAGED TO GET IN AND OUT, RAISING SUPPORT FOR HER DAMNED 'REVOLUTION', BUT SHE HAS DONE SO WHILE PREGNANT!!!"
The assorted generals and bangsawan shuffled their feet awkwardly, and did their best not to make eye contact with the angry Emperor in front of them. Even Jalur scurried out of the room, in fear of Sampan's tirade. He stared at the group for another moment, before posing the question, "So, what are we gonna do about it?"
The men assorted around the room were silent for a moment, before one was brave enough to step forward. "We could send in the Bun-yi, they could make short work of the Pirate Queen..."
Sampan scoffed. "And make her a martyr for her cause? No, we will not be killing her just yet. We need to establish control over the island first, both in our territory, and in what she considers hers..."
He turned to the bangsawan in charge of the Kulawanti territories on Sulawesi. "I will be sending you back with a good number of soldiers. Make sure you secure your territory and your cities." He then looked back over to his generals. "We need to secure the north of the island preemptively, before some pretender force decides to take control of it - prevent the uprising before it begins. The Darawani I am sure are far too busy, and I doubt that the Triple Alliance will help us take control of their client state, so we will be on our own for this one. Map out a plan to take control of the area quickly, especially the ports where enemy forces could land. Then, when we have control over out areas, we can move south and take out this Pirate Queen once and for all."
The men all nodded and went off to work on their parts of the plan. Saman then turned to an assistant still in the room, "and you, go fetch the Coordinator - we may have need for the Bun-yi after all..."
Over the next few months, as Liag Liang had to retreat to her base to give birth and nurse her newborn daughter, thousands of Kulawanti troops began to land on Sulawesi. A small resistance appeared in the North, but the force was too overwhelming and they quickly, but unhappily, fell in line.
This, of course, caused an uprising in the areas bordering Queen Liag's other holdings, who saw the liberating and protective Kulawanti force as invading oppressors, and they swore loyalty to their new Queen. Now with more men and more ships, she was ready to position herself as the true ruler of Sulawesi, and the rightful Queen.
