Alááfin Bùlutísíbíná Nyanché, the Long-Lived, fa Ibo Máráwa, born 993 CE to Alááfin Kónduna Olùde, the Humble, fa Ibo Máráwa, passed away after a severe chill in 1094 CE, after living for 101 years and ruling over the Alááshu fa Tozàn for 92 years.
The news hit all of Tozàn like a charging elephant. For one, barely anyone was older than 92 and the handful that might have been would have no recollection of that time, which meant that every single Obibo did not know what it was like to have a different Alááfin. Nyanché had been a constant in their lives, a given, and her death was only jokingly speculated about by drunks, though with every decade she survived the number of people who saw her as immortal were greater than those who would openly predict her death. She had passed in peace and she was with Kaya now and in her memory all who could affort it dressed themselves in pure white for a year long, the colour of mourning.
The late Alááfin was cremated in a service witnessed by nearly half a million people as some fanatics spent a month trekking to Uwára to be in time. A pyre was constructed and it stood fifty meters tall as a pyramid (pyre-amid) and it was set ablaze with five hundred oil-waxed torches being thrown at it simultaneously. A thousand and one drums then sounded the rythm of a tragic song and in that massive procession, Tozàn said farewell to their Alááfin.
Nyanché had quite the extended family:
- Olùde (1018-1065) ♀
- Máráwa (1029-1084) ♀
- Olùde (1037)
- Sabònò (1031-1063) ♂
- Batúndi (1033) ♂
- Achi (1019-1077) ♀
- Bobishe (1033) A ♀
- Résa (1037) A ♀
- Máráwa (1023-1083) ♀
- Ùsizàki (1046) ♀
- Káyugwá (1047-1089) ♀
- Kamàge (1049) ♂
- Olùde (1050) ♀
- Achi (1052) ♀
- Obi (1054) ♂
- Kóshù (1024-1083) ♂
- Obi (1045) ♂
- Sabònò (1053) ♂
- Káyábí (1028) ♂
She was thus succeeded by her granddaughter Olùde, who was well-versed in statecraft as she was already 55 herself. Kaya knew Olùde would not have a long reign, but any reign would have paled in the shadow of Nyanché the Long-Lived.
