Decades ago when Brennus declared the March of Eternal Spring - many of those that had left Gaul to join his side had their reservations.
Thousands of men and women, young and old, had flocked to his migratory banners - filled with ambition and more importantly hope for a better home with less plague and war. They knew that their migration would not be peaceful in the slightest until they reached what would be their new home.
They were Bituriges, Adosii, Barcargii, Santones, Lemovices and more. All were willing and able to fight such a fight should it come down to it.
So when the March of Eternal Spring stayed in limbo for years, many of those disgruntled tribes that had joined Brennus for change and new sights began their own migration - not eastwards but rather southwards, towards the ancient peninsula of civilisations that was Italia.
This newly formed migratory group called themselves the Ligurii, but all still referring to themselves as the Sons and Daughters of Brennus in respect for the awe-inspiring, legendary figure.
Primarily led by the Bituriges, this offshoot migration traversed the Alps with the aid of the Helvetii tribes which had always maintained close relations to their Celt brethren. As they arrived in the north Italian plains, they were even accompanied by two or three Helvetii tribes that longed for better homes.
The north of Italy is to be likened to a currant of change that is affecting the region greatly.
The Ligurii swept through the northern plains and arrived at the result of years of conflict between rebellious Etruscans and the Lazican Empire. They quickly subjugated the small city states in the surrounding area thanks to the mighty martial know-how of the Celts before turning their eyes to the great city of Genoa.
Genoa stood as a great fortified city on the coastline - with able amounts of control over the seas to stop any naval invasion. The Celts in their past had proved that no wall was unbreachable with the successive conquests of Iberia.
However such a bloody fight would not come to pass, as the Etruscan council of the city decided to surrender before the siege would destroy the wealth of Genoa completely.
The major Gallic Clans imposed themselves as the new rulers of the land as a Council - and established themselves as the upper class of society. Italics were given more rights than they had underneath Etruscans and the Celts generally did their best to keep the bigger part of the population happy.
The religion of Syirk, while still quite spread out within the Ligurii, interacted quite well with the ideals that the Bituriges brought with them from their lands and kin. The teachings of the Verworkantl melding quite well with the spiritualist religions of the area and inserted itself quite nicely within the everyday life of most inhabitants.
The major points of control of the ruling Clans are centred around the urban settlements, most notably Genoa but also within all the other smaller cities in the region. The Bituriges, as the traders of the Atlantic Sea in their time in Gaul, also brought their knowledge to the trading city of Genoa and would intensively focus on naval matters - as pirates or tradesmen - the rulers of the Ligurii did not particularly care.
