Where do I even truly start?
I’ll try to be as frank and honest as possible in this post - and it’s something I am doing with a lighter heart when it comes to this sub. For all in all, it truly had its ups and downs at times.
I’ll get to the more recent reasons why I’m leaving but for the moment, but first let’s go through the good times.
/u/lilac-nightshade – oh you bundle of amazingness you. I’ve mentioned it before but I’ll do it again. The roleplaying we did between us was some of the most enjoyable I’ve ever done in my experience on x-powers and the Internet as a whole really. The story arcs were amazing; I absolutely loved to bounce ideas between us to a point where I would stay up a whole night to get an event post of dialogue between our two characters done in one go. I tried my hardest to keep your Ciavel alive and well in my RP (and it actually pushed me to write on the most enjoyable solo-arcs that I've done so far).
/u/bloodofpheonix – truly one of the greatest x-powers players in my opinion: your attention to detail is heart-warming, especially when you correctly reference the lore of the players besides you; making me grin every time. You will always remain the Emerald of the Isles to me. Vesi can into Iceland... one day. Feel free to eat some of Scotland if you want to, I'm leaving post-declaim RP details below.
/u/engishark2 - you ungrateful cumwoad-ridden sleezebag. Love ya' man, Ogham best invention on HWP - period.
For all the members of the Celtic circle-jerk: thank you – being a part of it really made things fun for a long time here and gave me a newfound (not really to be honest) appreciation for Celts. RIP Gwelau Brittānemos; Agutrerra di-kwu adbaleo; Agutrerra di-kwu tenweo;

DEIWOI AG-NATER
/u/thedanishteens – The RP I’ve seen from you is some of the best on this sub despite your relatively short time here. Keep going strong, hope to see you on other x-powers subs. Hope your Denmark goes well.
/u/maleegee - I believe on this sub was the first time we really RP'd with each other, so that was certainly a lot of fun. You were the Augustus to my Caesar, the Foch to my De Gaulle, the (insert character) to my (insert other character). The at-times Machiavellian schemes that we had were awesome and it was great having you as a Celt-buddy to spread the beauty of Celt culture.
I’d mention more of you, but it would take too long.
/u/pittfan46 – I’m tagging you here as a stand-in for the moderation team of HWP so I’ll say what I think. Whilst you all may have your fair share of possible issues and criticisms that should be addressed, the moderation efforts (especially for the past few months since the season start) have been nothing short of admirable. I am fully aware of the time you all dedicate to this sub despite your own personal lives. So really: thank you.
Now some might consider me as being one of the “EP-scum” – others not. But I can’t say I didn’t enjoy the time I’ve been on this sub. Some things I believe should be changed – and for the longevity of this sub-reddit/season I hope change does indeed happen.
As for reasons – I have to admit - I have been losing more and more interest, especially in the region that Bretonnia is located. The argument "start something" is redundant to someone with my playstyle in my honest opinion - as I much rather prefer to write for the sake of others, to further their role-play and mine. I do not write for my own sake.
I don’t know how some do it – but no challenge or spark of interest in weeks is utterly and completely boring to me. Added to that, IRL has been popping up increasingly, and I cannot dedicate myself to HWP as I did in the past.
I will say that some of the structural issues of the inner workings of the sub are also a reason to declaiming, but I’m know it’s been said enough already.
Now I don’t want to stroke my ego too much but wow Bretonnia…..
Starting off as a small tribal nation in modern-day Wales; handling Scandinavian invaders twice (beating them the second time after killing Danish Buddha); having King Arthur fight against the Round Table of Ciavel; Celtfucianism rising and the holy Lands under the Heavens (glorious Celt Empire). This has been a wild ride and one I certainly wouldn’t expect first claiming here.
For the post-declaim RP:
The Breton Empire stagnates, with dangerous reformist religions rearing their ugly heads – most notably the Draconic Cult of the hills of Wales. The Kombrogi Dynasty slowly but surely loses control of the people and the lords of Bretonnia.

First the lords of Clan Saen (Red) – that completely take over the island of Hibernia whilst the Kombrogi are powerless. They impose themselves as a new successor dynasty on the smaller island. With that, the floodgates open for new successor dynasties to crop up around Bretonnia.
In the north – Clan Gloyw (Yellow) resists for a while but is inevitably overtaken by Clan Tsae (Blue) to their south – the latter establishing a strong dynasty centred on the metropolis that is Ebrauc as well as the old capital of Kaer Lleon.
Meanwhile – the remnants of the Kombrogi Clan retreats to the Ciaveli branch of the dynasty where they establish the third and last successor dynasty of Bretonnia.
The Three Kingdoms – as they are commonly known – are almost always at war. Saen and Kombrogi both siding against the stronger Tsae – but tensions exists between the two.
These Three Kingdoms are a tight and almost equal balance between each other – and foreign actors will have to play on that whilst interacting with these Kingdoms. All Three keep a distinct Gallo-Celtic culture, with Confucianism still playing an extremely strong role in the inner-workings of society.
To note: This post-declaim regional RP is purely for those future claimants that are willing to bear the history of the Isles as they claim there. It can be ignored completely if they so wish, but I would still like to encourage them to research a bit on how things were.
