The language of the Karraāolmo seems difficult to understand at first, but once you grasp a small amount of vocabulary and a few important grammar rules, itās easy to have a conversation with someone else.
Anyway, letās begin!
The Karraāolmo language is really a fairly small number of words combined with click consonants (ā) to create a larger, more meaningful word.
Letās take, for example, the Karraāolmoāuy, the meeting place of the Karraāolmo gods.
Karra is the base of the word, proven because it starts with a consonant. Karra means, in short, a body of water. You can just say the word Karra at any time, and people will understand what youāre saying.
Olmo is the descriptive part of the word, pretty much like an adjective. Olmo means black and godly. So, Karraāolmo means the Black and Godly Body of Water.
If you read my claim post, you may have noticed that the main Karraāolmo god is called Karraāolmoā. The last click consonant is important- it signifies that this thing, Karraāolmoā, is a deity. Yaldaāiciā, another god I had in my claim post, has the click consonant at the end.
So, what is the purpose of the uy?
This basically means āhome of.ā Itās a part of the word that I donāt know the name of, but itās almost like a second, more tactile-ish adjective. Whatever, Iāll just explain how it works.
But in order to understand that, hereās how names work:
Families are named after a local landmark that signifies them. For example, if their landmark is their house, which is a bright red, they might be called āTamdiāizil. Notice the click consonant at the beginning- while one at the end signifies the deity of that landmark. More on that in the religion post.
Anyway, āTamdiāizil means āfirst child of the red house.ā The āred houseā acts as a typical European surname, with them being passed down son to son.
For more children, you only need to add numbers at the start of the name. Ekiātamdiāizil means āsecond child of the red house,ā Uciātamdiāizil means āthird child of the red house,ā and so on.
So, if you wanted to say āhome of the second child of the red house,ā you would write it as Ekiāuyātamdiāizil. āUyātamdiāizil means āhome of the first child of the red house.ā Itās a mouthful, I know.
So, Karraāolmoāuy means āhome of the karraāolmo diety.ā
You can also add prefixes at the end of a word!
For example, Karsiākarraāolmoā! Karsi means anti-, so what do you think that means?
Thatās right, the anti-black godly body of water diety! Oh boy!
Anyway, that was the first part of the Karraāolmo language, how to create a word! Next part Iāll discuss verbs and constructing a sentence.
