What if the Soviets won the Soviet-Afghan War?
Post Body

What if the United States never funded the Mujahedeen, the Soviet economy could sustain the war, and Osama bin Laden was killed by Soviet forces? Leading to a permanent Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. After winning the war, the Soviets enforce state-atheism on Afghanistan, and brutally oppress tribal leaders and political dissidents that don't accept permanent Soviet occupation. How would this change the politics of the Middle East today, global politics, and potentially the fall of the USSR?
