Not sure if I’m allowed to just start one of these but wanted to get my thoughts out on this one.

Really enjoyed this issue, partially biased toward Soule, but also really enjoyed the backstory established in this. It may be “on the nose” but the the tempest world aspect was really interesting and the collapse of his people was also really cool to read (though kinda heartbreaking). The first 2 parts of this story were really cool, and I enjoyed seeing a more alive Mari San Tekka plus finally getting to see a bit about the origins of the Nihil…plus finally seeing Asgar…more on that further down!

Very curious about the red visions that Marchion seems to have…I gather we’ll slowly be learning more there but soooo creepy!! The final scene of this first part felt flat for me but also clearly is a cliffhanger/lead into the next issue. I kinda wish we had gotten more of Marchion and Asgar’s relationship though I think we can tell it was awful and abusive. Their family’s plan of revenge feels like the Sith’s long term plan but in a new and refreshing way. But also another instance of “we’re not the bad guys, YOU’RE the bad guys”

This very much feels like an introduction so far to MORE backstory, probably leading into Phase 2. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing some badass Matriarchs in the next batch of stories!

And lastly, all I gotta say is…why did they have to make Asgar the literal hot bad boy!! The High Republic has enough hot people…
