Being a movie extra/regional musical ensemble part with this job- unrealistic/unsafe?

Post Body

I’m checking off my bucket list these days with world travels, treating myself in various ways, trying out new hobbies, etc- and two things on my list:

  • be a movie extra in a major film (even if it’s one of those miserable gigs with no pay and I’m on screen for less than 2 seconds)
  • join the ensemble/chorus in a local musical (I live in a semi major city so I’m sure even with my musical background getting this may be more difficult, but again a ‘I need zero lines/to be there for more than two scenes, I just want to be in a musical again like I was in school)

Now for both of these things, I’m wondering how feasible are they even as a sw. I haven’t applied for any sort of civ anything besides housing in almost a decade, and I’m wondering how deep casting even looks into your background. I also have a couple fairly large tattoos (which I know isn’t identifiable for theater/film anyway, though they can be covered up) so I’m unsure how safe it is even for me to go after these things, as even without being face out my tattoos are in my photos.

Anyone with experience in this? And truly, these aren’t major life goals in the slightest, just fun bucket list things, so if the answer is ‘nah, don’t even try, bad idea’ I’m happy to fully accept that.
