Help with asymptomatic HSV-2

Hi everyone. So I am awaiting my blood test results for HSV-2. I had protected sex with someone who pretty much had symptoms a week or so after we had protected sex. They had lesions which were swabbed and confirmed HSV-2. I personally have never had an outbreak (although I haven’t exactly been checking). I’m just trying to prepare for if I do actually have it. How does it being asymptomatic differ from it being symptomatic? Will anti-virals be more effective? Am I less likely to pass it on? Like how do the statistics differ? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
