Which testing results timeline is accurate?

When I look up which testing results timeline is gonna be the most accurate for HSV 1 & 2. I’ve seen that some sites says testing 4-6 weeks after possible exposure gives you accurate results but other sites saying that 12-16 weeks after possible exposure gives you accurate results. Which one is right or does it vary from person to person?
