Likelihood of false negative PCR?
Post Body

Hi again. Apparently the lab my doc sent my PCR to is open on Saturdays and I just got the test back - negative!

My sores haven't really opened yet and definitely haven't scabbed over - she scraped at/off the roof of a couple to take the swabs. I'd had the sores for 2-3 days. I read the testing wiki and it sounds like this was the optimal time to take the swabs.

Is there any information out there on false negatives before the sores have opened?

Also planning to get an IgG and having my partners get one as well. The one I think would be the most likely source if I do actually have HSV is getting an IgG test on Monday.
