My friends with cold sores

Since my herpes diagnosis I’m looking at my friends that I know get cold sores and I’m pretty sure they don’t realise that it’s herpes. I can’t help ponder do their wife’s and husbands now have genital herpes?
Probably not though as most people get HSV-1 as children and have the antibodies.
