Hi guys I would love your thoughts I've been chatting with a woman I met on Tinder 6 months ago. We live in different countries, but I visit her city regularly and plan to relocate there in a year.
We first met in March for a first date/meet-up in her town, and we clicked. We chatted for hours. We parted with a long kiss. My flight was the following day. We stayed in touch, and a week later, she said she wanted to see me in my town for a weekend.
She booked a hotel nearby and flew in last week. On her third night, we ended up in her hotel room. We both had a lot to drink and started fooling around and having sex without protection.
The following day, I told her, “It’s a bit late to have this conversation, but I had my STI panel done a month ago, and everything was clear. (Panel included hsv1 and 2) She said ok, cool. Foolishly, I didn’t ask her about her status. I assumed, based on her saying she hadn’t had sex in almost a year, that she was ok.
The following day, while hanging out, she disclosed that she’s been positive (hsv2) for about ten years, is on daily suppressant therapy and has never had an outbreak. She got it from her ex-husband. She said she was very sorry and embarrassed and regretted not bringing it up when I mentioned my status.
I told her I understand the risk (low) and that I've had to mediate discussions in the past between couples around HSV disclosure (healthcare worker), so I understand her hesitancy in disclosing but appreciate her doing so.
I feel torn. While I get it, she didn’t say it when I brought up my status rubs me wrong. I like her and think we’re compatible enough for something long-term, but that delay in disclosing has my spider sense tingling (no pun intended)
I’d love your thoughts, perspective or personal experience takes on this
