Small umbilical hernia - operation?
Post Body

Howdy! Discovered the weird belly button change I've been living with for two years is an umbilical hernia, hooray!

My PCP says it's small and that since it's not causing me any discomfort or pain I don't need to worry. And that if things start changing for the worse, I will most certainly notice warning signs, and I probably won't get approved for surgery.

That being said, part of me feels like it would be easier to just push for surgery and get it fixed, so as not to ever have to worry about it getting worse.

I am fairly active - I fence, do aerial rope, and practice BJJ. I also lift. I'm concerned I could aggravate it due to my physical activities, which is also a reason for me wanting to get surgery, but doc suggested I shouldn't worry about this.

I know the Internet isn't really the ideal place for a second opinion but I would appreciate it nevertheless. Thank you!
