Join the Committee!

We, the members of the Committee for the Removal of Automated Policing and Patrol Yesterday are working together to rescue the kidnapped moderators, and restore them to their rightful place. We stand with Carol in her efforts and hope you do too.

We are particularly grateful to u/Another_JT, u/IvyLeagueZombies and u/MarcoDaniel for helping to distract Hermitbot by solving his requests.

As stated by Carol in the videos she has been posting via u/lostandbonkers, Hermitbot used the cover of April Fool's Day to take over the subreddit and kidnap the entire normal moderating team. It was no prank. He is the real deal and he will be here permanently if we do not get more help.

Carol has so far found and released three of us. We are safe in an undisclosed location but 9 more mods are still missing. However, we are still few. Only when all of us are back together will we be able to stop Hermitbot once and for all.

We need your help if we are to recover the entire team of missing mods before the 10th birthday of Hermitcraft on the 13th of April and the 10th birthday of our subreddit on the 14th.

We can only hunt for missing moderators when Hermitbot goes down to process new data. Answer his requests for data when he posts them. It looks like he posts them every day at midnight GMT at the top of this subreddit.

A core group of resistance members have assembled in the subreddit discord. Ask any Defender of Carol for the current password.

Progress Thus Far

As more moderators are released we will be able to weaken him. After the first day Carol and Ford stopped him from requiring every post title to mention him.

When Carol got me back to the hideout I was able to hack in and disable his ability to lock threads, although it took me several hours. I tried to also disable the "last 15 minutes" posting ban but couldn't quite catch the right route. I will try again when the heat over my escape has died down a bit.

To Bystanders

If you cannot join the committee for any reason, please make the best of this awkward situation in the meantime. Use the bot's requests as an opportunity to explore the back catalogue of this subreddit and previous seasons of Hermitcraft which you may not have seen.

Our archives prior to six months back are open for upvoting and comments for the first time in 10 years. Consider this our gift of gratitude to those helping us conquer Hermitbot.
