Help me understand bloodwork?
Post Body

This could also fall under the “just diagnosed” category—my family has known about my grandmother’s C282Y hemochromatosis, for about two decades. It really shouldn’t have been a total shock that, after years of health problems and long-COVID, my genetic test just returned a positive for the same mutation.

I’m trying to read as much as I can about the condition, to manage it—however, my lab results are confusing to me. With this kind of low TIBC/ high transferrin saturation, shouldn’t my iron also be high? Why is my ferritin not also higher?

I had anemia symptoms and low iron/rbc, this time last year. Shouldn’t that be, theoretically, impossible?

Anything you can tell me, even if it’s just anecdotal, is appreciated! I’m flying blind!
