Dedicated to my own Millie who I miss very much with each day.
We open on Moxxie sometime after Millie has told him he's gonna be a daddy as he's looking in a mirror. He's practicing asking Blitzo for a raise now that there is gonna be a newborn to provide for. After a mini freakout over whether or not he can do this, a heavily pregnant Millie enters and encourages Moxxie saying that no matter what happens they'll make things work. Moxxie perks up and at last seems like he's screwed up enough courage to ask Blitzo. After all, even if they don't make a lot they still have their job, right?
We immediately cut to Blitzo turning Moxxie down flat before Moxxie has even said more then a couple of words. Moxxie stammers and asks why to which Blitzo reveals that they are all on the brink of losing their jobs. I.M.P. is in the red due to Blitzo using the company funds to try and accommodate the wealthy tastes of Stolas (likely an effort to keep him happy now that he's still lost everything else). Without a big job, they are all screwed. That's when the phone rings with a big job offer.
On the other line is Crimson, Moxxie's father. After seeing Blitzo stand up to Satan, Crimson seems to have genuine interest in hiring the crew even though nobody from I.M.P. trusts him. Blitzo makes a crack about getting Crimson's thugs to do his dirty work to which Crimson reminds Blitzo that he can't cause Millie and Blitzo keep killing all of them. Nevertheless, Blitzo seems ready to tell Crimson to take his offer and shove it but surprisingly Moxxie is the one who suggests taking the job. He hates the idea of working for his dad in any way, but knowing he's got a kid on the way he's willing to do this one job if it means the company will still be around in a month.
The group hesitantly accepts and we see the crew head up to earth and kill some random human mobster sniper with ease. Of course everyone expects Crimson to stiff them on the bill or double-cross them in some other way but surprisingly Crimson actually pays them the promised amount. Offhand Crimson mentions he'd have more work for them if they are up for it and it's here we see Moxxie grappling with the first touch of greed inherited by his father.
Moxxie wants the best for Millie and his baby on the way and, with Blitzo spending like he is, one job soon turns into two. From here we jump to a musical montage as the group kills more and more human mobsters. They fall by the truck load, just a huge amount of human mobsters. They make group of humans who died in Truth Seekers look downright conservative in number. One might even say that the group kills so many mobsters that Crimson is able to rebuild his criminal empire in Greed with the souls of all the mobsters who get sent to hell, though for now I.M.P. is none the wiser. They are too blinded by the money coming in.
This is when we start to rejoin with Millie, who hasn't been going with the rest of I.M.P. to the human world. Given how far along she is, she's been sidelined and has just been hanging out in the office with Stolas. She's taking it about as well as you'd think as we see her in the throws of a violent rage, likely committing a lot of property damage in the process. As a scared Stolas looks on wide-eyed, Millie can't seem to decide who to be more mad at: Crimson for all these jobs that are keeping Moxxie busy or herself for not being able to go with Moxxie. Stolas does his best to try to calm Millie down but of course he doesn't exactly have the kind of relationship with her to know what to say. Instead he gets his head bitten off (figuratively) by Millie as she rages at Stolas for starting this whole chain of events with his wealthy tastes.
The comment made clearly cuts deep with Stolas and seeing him begin to cry Millie's rage does give way a little. She can't bring herself to fully apologize as she ment what she said. Even still, Millie acknowledges it's not exactly his fault either that Blitzo has zero impulse control and was just trying to make Stolas feel better. In truth, she's starting to understand as Millie is just missing Moxxie. Violence is her way of dealing with it just as Stolas has been shopping. The two have a small bonding moment over the people they miss and their different ways of coping.
When Moxxie does get back from the latest mission, Millie goes to him and begs that they don't take anymore jobs from Crimson. She tells Moxxie that she just misses having more time with him and that ever since Crimson hired I.M.P. she's felt more and more like Moxxie is too busy. He asks about the money and we again get Millie's lines from earlier in the episode that no matter what happens they'll make things work. Though Moxxie had been dead set on making more and more money, the words of his wife lift the fog of greed. His eyes widen and the two embrace with Moxxie realizing that he'd rather be with her and their future baby. Stolas looks on at the two kissing and makes his own promise to himself on cutting back of the extravagant spending.
That night when Crimson calls with yet another job, Moxxie tells his father that I.M.P. isn't taking anymore work from him... ever. Crimson asks if Moxxie is really sure about that in a goading tone to which Moxxie, getting more and more firm with his hated father, tells Crimson that he's sure he'd rather be with Millie. Crimson makes some vague threat about how something could happen to her and the group realizes with a shot that just gazes Millie that the random sniper killed in the opening is back.
The crew leap into action with Millie going too as the gunshot only served to piss her off. They track the gunman to a nearby roof and set upon him. After a quick fight it's Moxxie's own sharp shot that takes the sniper down for the second time. But just taking care of one mobster isn't enough and the group knows it. They let Millie work out some pent up rage as she cuts the sniper into chunks the size of salad croutons to mail back to Crimson in the Greed ring. A small message not to fuck with I.M.P. or this is what is gonna happen to Crimson's whole new crew.
Of course we know this isn't the end for Crimson and as we close on the episode we hear he's got big plans for Moxxie and Millie, especially their future little one....
