Not enjoying multiplayer. Will this stop my progress in the game?

I don’t want to do any more of these races. My latency is high when inviting someone else and I can’t get bronze, even with speed walking potions. I’ll do the easy multiplayer quests, like coconuts or taking pictures. I’m wondering if this is going to stop my progress for my single player game?
