visitor cabin question

once a visitor decides to stay at your island permanently, are you able to change the items in the house? i want to start achieving the cabin theme collection (putting all of one type of furniture in one cabin) but because i have to have random certain pieces for one visitor it’s making it annoying lol. so my question is once someone decides to stay does it still matter what’s in their cabin? thank u in advance!
