Hello, everyone! I hope you're all doing well.
I'm sure this has been asked/stated before. I did do some searching about but if this does not need to be asked again, please feel free mods to delete or disable my post.
I've been on quite the rabbit hole recently reading about all sorts of deities, and I feel incredibly drawn to the Greek gods in particular (hence why I am here!) However, I've also read up on some of their myths and I just... have such a bad sinking feeling reading the especially violent ones.
I'm a SA survivor and all of the myths involving the Gods r*ping other Gods, mortals, etc. just... no disrespect intended, sound so awful. A prime example is Zeus, being the King of the Gods and venerated highly by most. His mythology genuinely makes me scared of Him.
I understand the Gods can be/are viewed as having somewhat human nature. I also understand that mythology isn't always /true/, but mythology is also used as a way to get to know the Gods, yes? They can't... they can't actually be r*pists... can they?
I apologize for the long post. Any and all insight is greatly, greatly appreciated. Any tips on healing my human judgement of Zeus is also appreciated, as I do not want to fear Him as much as I innately do.
Thank you!
