Why do some people use the eruptor?

This is an honest question. I’ve been in love with the crossbow ever since the first time I used it, I’ve tried the eruptor but found that it didn’t feel as effective. Based on the stats, it seems the crossbow is better than the eruptor in almost every way. So my question is; Why do I still see a good amount of people using it? Is there any reason that would make the eruptor a better choice than the crossbow that I’m just not aware of?
