So I was doing a level 7 bug missing with this level 40 something player. I was level 21 at the time. It was just me and him and the mission was going fine, for the most part i was just following his lead, doing whatever he asked of me, as i usually do with players who are higher level than me. (Also neither of us were using voice chat)

So fast forward through the entire mission, we did the main objectives, we hit a few of the nests and secondary objectives but couldn’t get all of them, after all it was just two of us on a level 7 difficulty. We get to the extraction zone with roughly 2 minutes left before the destroyer leaves, I go to call for extraction and this dude starts spamming the “Negative” voice line. I kinda turned and looked at him for a second then went to call for extraction again and he did it again.

So at this point I was confused but I’m thinking, “ok this dudes higher level, I guess he knows what he’s doing” so after 2 minutes the destroyer leaves, and of course we start to get swarmed with bugs, and we have no stratagems…. I tried my best to assist him in fending them off but about 1 minute into the extraction timer I die. Homeboy managed to pick up my rare samples but then about 30 seconds later he shares the same fate. I was pissed. Not just at him, but at myself too.

If I had called in extraction when I was going to there’s a good chance we would have made it out of there with all the rare samples we had. But I guess this guy wanted to have some John Rambo final stand to fuel his ego which costed us all the samples.

Moral of the story: To all the lower level players out there, even if the higher level player is trying to get you to do something, it’s ok to follow your gut sometimes, even if it doesn’t work out, you’ll be glad when it does.
