I don’t understand the hype around the arc thrower

How do I use it? I hear everyone saying it’s good and as soon as I get my hands on it to test it out it’s worthless. Sure it clears the little guys well but tons of stuff can do that. I was kiting around chargers for 5 minutes trying to kill them 30 shots later and a bike titan finally stomps it out. Am I not understanding where to aim?
