So my wife and I have been baby sitting a hedgehog since the end of May. His owner just offered to let us keep him, since he isn't in a place to keep him anymore. We like the hedgehog. However, since we got him, he will ball and hiss at us when we try to pick him up and interact with him. He will ball when we walk near his home. He's just, a grumpy hedgehog.
We need advice on how we can better acclimate him to us and get him to the point where he will let us pick him up freely and not be scared every time we come near him. He is just over a year old. Any behavior or "training" tips that we can do to help the situation?
