I can’t seem to get my HA to fit properly anymore.
I got my HA (left side only) in Nov. The audiologist gave me both size 6 and size 8 domes to try out. The 8 hurt my ear canal (I’m VERY sensitive to pressure) so I started with the 6. In the last couple of months I’ve noticed the HA wiggling around a bit in my ear (it makes my ear itchy) and an occasional whistling sound. I’m assuming that means poor fit, so I’m trying to switch to the size 8 dome. Everything seems wrong though. When I push the HA in all the way, it pokes my eardrum. WhenI let it pop out a little bit to where it wants to be naturally, the sound is muffled and I hear a whooshing sound. Any advice?
Background: I have Meneire’s Disease with permanent tinnitus and progressive hearing loss, so far only in the left ear. My last bout was in 2020 and it pushed me over into hearing aid territory. It took me this long to get an appt with the VA audiologist! I’m glad to find this group as I know no one with a HA.
