Post Body

Up until two weeks ago my standard morning routine (I'm unemployed at the moment) would be to get up, take meds, shower, brush my teeth, get a coffee (stupid order I know), then sit at my computer and check email/ social media etc.

Then an hour later I'd realise I'd not eaten breakfast....

Then late arvo I would realise I'd not done anything I wanted to during the day as I would game and watch youtube. Or similar.

Now I do the shower, teeth etc then grab a coffee and breakfast and sit down with a planner (I've had one for a while, slowly getting better at using it, big help with focusing. Have weekly meeting with my gf about what we are doing, encourage each other etc) and work out what I'm doing for the day.

Then during the day I only turn my computer on to do a specific task, then turn it off and walk away. Even if I have another computer task I could do straight away. I also try to do as many non-computer tasks as possible before using my computer.

As a side note "vegging out and gaming" is something I will use the computer for. But its a more conscious decision and so one I tend to do last in the day.

My house is cleaner, my food better (and made by me), I exercise more, taken up miniature painting after 20 years away from it, and slowly ticking off all those little things I've been meaning to do for ages.

If you are the type who gets up and just habitually goes to your computer. I really suggest you try this. Sit with the boredom a little if you need to (I learned that and using that to focus from Dr K) and just start chipping away at the little things in your life you've meant to do for ages. See how you feel after a couple of days.
