How can I practically apply the ideas in "The Secret to Being Happy Alone" to my break up?

Post Body

Watched the Secret to Being Happy Alone video today and think the part about how monks modify incoming emotional stimuli might really help me.

Can anyone give me some advice on how I actually use the idea of modifying incoming external events to help me move past my break up? For example how can I just ignore the things I really miss about my ex, especially given we broke up on very good terms?

I can definitely see some of the upsides of being single, but it doesn't feel like this is enough to stop the unhappiness and sense of loss.

Any advice would be much appreciated!
