So... let me just run through a quick rough description of
1) Try something new either on a whim or at the suggestion of others and end up actually enjoying what I'm doing.
2) Something happens to make me realise that it is current year, and that any enjoyment I'm having, plus any other benefits that come with enjoying it, is something that I could've had if I had just started doing this 10, 20 years ago.
3) Absolutely despise everything about my life and all the poor decisions I've made, and stop enjoying the thing that I was enjoying because now all it does is remind me that I wasn't already enjoying it.
Actual recent example: ended up getting into GTA V a month ago. Started thinking that maybe I can actually do this long term; make something of myself. Then last week; GTA 6 gets announced and so I basically threw my hands up and went "ell; there goes that idea; what's the point in trying anything if the entire game is going to be seen as obsolete in 2 years. Why didn't I come up with this idea when the game was big? Anything I could do before the next game comes out could've been done years ago if I wasn't stupid and figure this out earlier..."
It's happened with Baldurs Gate/DnD, it's happened with Minecraft, it's happened with One Peice, it's happened ith drawing. And all of those are just things that I can remember from this year.
I guess my question is; ho pray tell do other people not think like this?
