What Did I Do This Time?

Post Body

So I had been hanging with a friend and going out on the weekends to play pool and go to the bar. I left my ID at home by accident and usually they let me in, but a new guy was working and busted my chops about it. Suffice to say I was a little pissed and later made a comment on ID laws. I tried not to belabor the fact but people trying to control people pisses me off. But I thought that was the end of that.

Fast forward a week or two and we were at a baseball game. I am excited about moving and later he explained I kept talking about the same thing. Ok I can admit maybe I was being a bit annoying, but the city is the about to be the third largest city in my country and feels a bit more freeing as opposed to my current city, which seemed like a hometown like city, but post-covid everyone seemed to forget their manners and act like they don't understand English (if they didn't fair, but I believe most the people in my city do). Contrasting this with the new city, people are talkative and the economy just seems better. I am super happy and it is probably the biggest thing I have to look forward to.

I had also made a joke that could be construed as sexual, but I did it teasingly and he got all pissed and said this is why people don't want to hang with him. Later our other friend went home with a woman and I kinda lightly joked about it (I was happy for him, but sometimes due to my disability I do feel a little bad, but more in general, not because of him), but then my friend got pissed about it and was basically like shut up and I should be happy for him. But my friend always talks about how he has chicks hitting on him (which is true). Sometimes this does puzzle me, as he is about 6'0 and I am 5'11, but in his defense he does exercise a lot but is also Indian, but whatever works for him. But then he tends to hype himself up and says he works at (redacted) school, when in fact they are working as a licensee of that school.

I don't call BS as people are stupid as hell, so what is the point? But another thing thing I noticed is on a certain political issue, he always seems to wants to be right on a certain issue. Up to this point I try to roll with the punches, but it seems like he is trying wayyy too much to be a conformist. I enjoy conversations with him and gave him the shirt off my back when his ex was gunning for him, but it seems like he is trying to be popular. I go to some places he likes and hang at his place sometimes, but I have been realizing that I need to drop the mask a bit more, and as a result need to quit giving a fuck about the bar we go to in order to play pool. Most the people there just seem a bit vapid and I just don't feel a decent vibe. Contrasting this with my new city and a rock concert I went to a few months ago, I felt at ease and I was actually enjoying myself. Again I get it is not all about me, but with him being a judgmental prick, I have been reevaluating things. On top of that I did text him just to see how things are going (I know he works and is working on a startup), but he has not texted back.

Coming full circle, I have been trying to be more of myself, but it seems like he is trying to always be Mr. Cool. I get I cannot says certain things (such as dark humor), but even when I try to be genuinely accommodating, it seems like I am not cut out for being cool. Maybe I am reading too much into the comments, but it seems like people get so upset over a comment or something and waste their lives on stupid shit. Am I imagining things, or does it seem like my friend is being a jackass for mostly no good reason?
