After a run in with a negative reaction to a medication I was taking (spironolactone) which gave me heart palpitations and one choking incident, I'm now suddenly afraid of having an allergic reaction? I know that makes no sense but I think it stems from my choking incident and my throat closing up. I also have mild acid reflux.
I also am NOT allergic to anything nor have had an allergic reaction in my life. But suddenly I'm scared to eat foods and eat out afraid this time I might have a reaction.
[TRIGGER WARNING] I looked it up and apparently you can develop allergies later in life suddenly, and so now that freaks me out too. How can I stop this irrational fear, and start eating things like I normally would? I wish I could carry and Epi-pen for my piece of mind but I don't know where to get one in Canada.
Has anyone experience this weird fear? How can I get over it? I'm going to my uni psychologist soon.
