I have anxiety regarding food. I'm afraid I'll have an allergic reaction, or that the food will have something bad in it either because I wasn't careful enough while handling it or because of a mistake in the factory/bakery. I'm not afraid of germs but I'm terrified of chemicals or something in my food causing a reaction.
A few days ago I saw an article about some guy who found rat droppings and a shrimp in his cereal, the same brand I eat. Logically I know that focusing on this is unreasonable because literally any brand has horror stories like that and if I avoid all of them I might never eat again. So I've continued eating the cereal, but today I convinced myself the very last one in my bowl tasted wrong, so I spat it out (it looked fine) and then had a full on panic attack.
I probably won't be able to breathe properly the rest of the night (that's my biggest anxiety symptom), and this is so frustrating because a year ago I wouldn't have worried about this stuff at all and now it seems I'm only developing more and more phobias.
