Post Body

Hey all! I have a Hifiman Ananda, and it is honestly a great headphone. THe only problem for me is that it just simply doesn't fit well on my head. Something maybe about the gigantic cups? They clamp in strange ways. Not as in the clamp force is too strong, it's more like the top left of the left cup presses against my head harder than the right cup, and it fels wonky on my head. No clue why, but it is what it is.

So with this in mind, I have been looking into other competitors to the Ananda in the same price range, and I can't find anything really. THis truly does seem like the be-all-end-all for the $700 range, unfortunately. Then, I started looking into Electrostatic Headphones.

The thing is, I love how open the Ananda sounds. Not as in it has great imaging and soundstage, though it does, I mean just being able to hear everything in my room. It almost sounds like I don't have headphones on.

From what I've heard, this is simply because there are less components in a Planar headphone compared to the Dynamic. And, from what I've also heard, Electrostatic headphones are even more open, which to me, is super dope.

With this, and the fact that Electrostats seem to have great technicalities, I was looking into getting into the Electrostat game. I referred to Crinacle's Headphone Tier List, and the Electrostatic headphones in his list are super, super e expensive, although they seem to take up a majority of the top 20 headphones in his list. With this in mind, is there perhaps an Electrostatic that you all are aware of that doesn't cost all that much that I can purchase? I'm fine with EQing, so as long as there is a EQ profile I can look at for that specific headphone, I don't mind downloading EQAPO and using it. From what I can understand, that should fix some tonality issues as long as they aren't super super far gone, and it should keep the great technicalities.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and shoot your recommendations away. (: I could "maybe" stretch the budget to $1k, but I'd rather not, as I'm blind and living off of disability, and I've got to eat.

Thanks!!
