Starter relay or starter solenoid?

I tried to start my hawk 250 after installing a nibbi carb unknowingly I didnt have the spark plugs wire attached bike kept trying to start itself without me cranking it even when I took key out it still tried starting itself so much the battery started smoking a little. Yesterday I finally got carb fully installed now bike makes a clicking sound. It sounds like a strenuous clicking what could it be?
