Turbinada Sugar is an 81 year old nen user who, despite looking her age, is very healthy. Turbinada is a natural enhancer, and she is most talented at enhancing other people, rather than herself. At 35 she developed her nen subconsciously after passionately devoting herself to the art of baking. By the age of 43, her nen use developed into a full hatsu. By 46, her hatsu caught the attention of a the hunter Association. The Association began conducting delicate operations to figure out the nature of the hatsu, and any way to exploit it without making Turbinada aware of her own ability. Though the exact details of this hatsu are unknown to the Association, the general mechanics of the hatsu are understood.

Baker's Dozen: Turbinada's Blessing 100% Enchancment

If Turbinada bakes any pastry in a batch of 13, the 13th pastry will give one of a myriad of potential enhancements. These effectiveness of these enhancements correlate with the natural enhancement potential of the person who enjoyed the 13th pastry. These enhancements can even manifest in those who haven't opened their aura nodes, but the effect will be just barely noticeable on a non nen user. The effectiveness and duration of the enhancement, as well as the type of enhancement, can also be influenced by Turbinada's knowledge of the circumstance of the person who will eat her baking.

This last aspect of the hatsu isn't well understood, as hunters studying the hatsu can't spill about the true nature of their lives. To get around this the hunter will strike up a conversation with Turbinada while ordering a dozen pastries. They will say something like "These are for my grandmother, she's been sick" or "These are for my husband, he's been working so hard at his new job" or "These are for my daughter, she's been doing so well in school". In fake newspaper interviews conducted by the association about her bakery, she said that she really pays attention to her customers, and when she knows who will be eating her baking, she can't help but think about them the whole time she baking. It's believed that her sheer passion for baking, along with her love and empathy for her patrons, combined with her overwhelming self fulfillment all allowed her to start apply nen to her baking, eventually manifesting in this abilty. It seems that the amount of 13th pastries she makes is only limited by how fast she can bake batches of pastries.

At the age of 75, the Association determined that her nen affinity shifted from pure Enhancement to a duel enhancer/specialist. It's believed the shift occurred when Turbinada realized that in her old age, she had fewer days left to bake, and as she cherished her days of baking more and more, the shift eventually occured.

Turbinada's Blessing: A Day Well Spent 100% Specialization

If Turbinada bakes 13 batches of pastries without sleeping, than the 13th pastry of the 13th batch will grant a temporary hatsu, rather than an enhancement.

This hatsu seemingly works exactly the same way as the base hatsu. The effectiveness, duration, and type of hatsu are all variable to how much Turbinada knows about the circumstances of the person who will eat it. However, as with the base hatsu, hunters haven't been able to get tailored abilities due to the secrecy they have to uphold. The Association hasn't told Turbinada in fear that it would crush her spirits if she knew that her baking was being exploited, thus losing her hatsu all together. Since this is the case, they tend to seek out issues that these temporary hatsu are coincidently well equipped for.

Though it seems that the restrictions for this ability are light, remember that the real restrictions are not just baking an extra pastry when a customer orders a dozen, but dedicating your life to the mastery of the art of baking, dedicating your life to your one true passion, and truly believing you are making people's lives better through that passion.
