Nen Type: Conjuration

Description: The user is able to conjure various nen beasts based on creatures that are tattooed on their body. Each creature has a single unique ability with different restrictions associated with each.

Restrictions/Conditions:

  • The user can only summon nen beast that have been tattooed on their body in traditional Irezumi style. This is a heavy condition due to the significant amount of time and pain endured to get the tattoos.

  • The user can only summon two different nen beasts at once.

  • The user does not have direct control over the nen beasts. Instead, he can initiate basic commands for them to follow.

Nen Beasts:

  • Hebi (Snake): Located on the user’s left upper arm/chest, Hebi is a long snake with the ability to constrict and capture opponents by wrapping its powerful body around them. It is pretty much a normal constrictor snake.

  • Ryu (Dragon): Located on the user’s right upper arm/chest, Ryu causes rain to fall in a circular area surrounding it. This area of rain acts as Ryu’s En, but NOT the user’s. Ryu must verbally communicate anything it senses with its En to the user. The size of the rainstorm is inversely related to the size of Ryu, which can increase and decrease its size at will. When Ryu is very large, the rainstorm is very little, but Ryu’s combat abilities are enhanced, which primarily consist of very basic water manipulation and usage of claws/teeth to deal damage. When Ryu is very small, he can deal very little damage, but the rainstorm is large.

  • Raijin and Fujin: Located on the user’s ribs, Raijin and Fujin can only be summoned together, with no other nen beasts allowed to be summoned at the same time. Raijin has the ability to bang on the drums surrounding him to generate lightning bolts to strike opponents. The lightning bolts are not strong enough to kill, but they do stun enemies for some time, and can start fires if they hit flammable objects. Fujin has the ability to open his sack to unleash large gusts of wind.

  • Hyottoko and Okame Masks: Located on the user’s forearms (one on each), these masks must be forcibly placed on a target’s face in order to have any effect. When the Hyottoko mask is placed on a target, the become drunk and start acting silly, even going so far as damaging their normal allies. When the Okame mask is placed on a target, they become the user’s ally. Each mask effect only lasts for two minutes.

  • Tora-O-Maru: Located on the user’s back, Tora-O-Maru is a warrior riding on the back of a tiger. Tora-O-Maru is strictly an offensive ability, with both the warrior and tiger relentlessly attacking the user’s enemies with violent precision.

  • Karajishi (Foo Dogs/Guardian Lions): Located on the user’s left calf and thigh, these two karajishi are purely defensive nen beasts, only able to inflict basic bite/scratch damage against opponents as a counter to attacks aimed at the user. Their primary goal is to defend the user at all costs, absorbing damaging attacks in his place. For the purposes of nen beast count while active, karajishi only counts as one nen beast, and both must be summoned at the same time.

  • Baku: Located on the user’s right thigh, Baku the dream eater is automatically conjured if the user falls under the control of a manipulation ability. Baku eats the manipulation nen to release the user from its control. It has no other abilities.

  • Crane: Located on the user’s right calf, the crane is another automatically triggered ability. The crane is automatically conjured if the user suffers a mortal wound. The crab picks up the user and flies him away from the situation he is currently in and locates his nearest ally. Upon finding that ally, the crane dissipates and heals the user’s mortal wound, but all other wounds remain in place, and must be healed by other means. When the crane is used, the user is unable to use nen for two weeks. Additionally, if the user’s closest ally is far enough away, it is possible that the user will succumb to his mortal wounds while being carried by the crane, and not survive the incident.

Hope y’all liked the read! Let me know in the comments if you think this is well balanced enough or if it needs additional restrictions/conditions. I personally think each nen beast’s ability is unique and specific enough that the ability isn’t overpowered considering the requirement of getting the tattoos as well as the restriction of only being able to summon two at once, but I’m definitely intrigued to get your opinions!
