Has anyone been on cytomel (lyothyronine) only? I cannot take synthroid. I get extreme side effects from it that doctors cannot figure out (suicidal, inability to eat, extreme anxiety and brain fog etc). I have tried it 3 or 4 times with no success.
The only medication that has worked is cytomel with varying dosages. I was previously doing well on 12.5mcg in the am and an additional 5mcg 2 days a week. However I became pregnant and had to increase thr 5mcg to 4 days a week.
I am 5 months pp and my tsh is around 12. I can't recall what the t3 and t4 were but everything is a mess. Now I have orders to increase the 5mcg to everyday for a week and then after do 10mcg in the evening 3 nights a week and 5mcg in the evening every other day.
I can already feel it is too much. I'm starting to feel the effects of potential toxicity.
I'm at my wits end. I'm tired of dealing with this. It mentally exhausting. I felt fine with a 12tsh but thr doctor doesn't want it that high.
Does anyone have other alternatives? We don't have other medications that I'm aware of in canada unless I get something compounded but I think I have trouble converting t4 to t3 which is why I have success on t3 only. Except now the t3 only isn't working as well.
