Just officially Diagnosed
Post Body

Good day!

I [39 F] just got officially diagnosed with Hashimotos and come to you all for advice and support.

Little background-

Started feeling EXTREME fatigue - literally would sleep all day on my days off- and quickly started gaining weight in the span of about 5 months (gained about 45 lbs with no real change in diet/exercise) Finally made a tele-doc apt and dr ordered blood work.

On May 14th my TSH was 74.63 mIU/L

was put on 50 mcg of Levothyroxine

Had bloodwork redone on Tuesday-

my TSH is down to 7.16

Antithyroglobulin Ab is 8 IU/mL

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies is >900 IU/mL

T4, Total 6.4 mcg/dL (normal)

T3, Total 105 ng/dL (Normal)

my extreme fatigue is gone, now my tiredness is simply from lack of sleep,

Sadly, the levothyroxine hasn't helped me lose any weight- actually i'm still slowly gaining, but i'm not eating the best either.- i was a bit optimistic i would have hopefully lost some water weight I read is a "side effect"

Have any of you found any special diet- or eliminating certain foods/food groups to help you? (if so how did it help)

I have read that the autoimmune diet is good, but also read other articles that don't mention eliminating most of of those foods.

Sorry for the long post. I appreciate you if you made it this far and any insight/help/support you may be able to offer.
