I've been battling with symptoms of Hashimotos or hypothyroidism for years now. Weight gain, extreme fatigue, horrible brain fog, memory loss and concentration issues, depression, anxiety, etc... I went to my doctor about 3 years ago asking to do some tests as I had a visible enlarged goiter and at another doctors visit they were concerned. I got an ultrasound which came back negative/wasn't any abnormalities. So I then got a blood test too and my TSH came back at 5.18, and my T4 at 11.9. They said not to be worried about elevated TSH and to get blood done again in 3 months. I got another test done then, and my results showed TSH at 1.51, but Thyroperoxidase Ab at 65. It says anything over 35 is out of range.
My doctor dismissed me and said that isn't anything to worry about because TSH was now normal. I got so tired of the back and forth I gave up and didn't go back about my thyroid for 3 years, until now. My heart rate dropped to 40 the other week, and hasn't improved. I've had extreme dizziness, chest pain, etc... It's been really concerning. Anyways we're doing heart tests, but I saw that this is common in folks with Hashimotos. So, I asked for a blood test and just saw the results:
TSH is 1.74, and Thyroperoxidase Ab is 68.
Doctor says not worry again because TSH is fine... I see a lot of people on here have REALLY high TPO levels, and 68 is not bad at all in comparison. BUT it is out of range, so I'm wondering what that means.
Has anyone here had a similar situation, similiar antibodies number but still diagnosed with hashimotos?? Or is my doctor right and I'm overreacting. These symptoms are becoming dibiliating and I just don't get why I would keep getting an elevated number (even if not by a lot) after all these years if something wasn't wonky with my thyroid.
