Is shit driving just the norm in America?

I'm a Brit who's currently in Connecticut for a work trip and holy shit Americans just can't drive at all
Such shit and aggressive drivers who drive like they want to kill someone
Is it just the norm to drive like this in America?

Edit: And actually it might be related to the fact that such a high percentage of people in CT are unfriendly AF if not outright hostile. I love CT's scenery but its population sucks
