Why does Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets feel more complete than Sorcerers Stone (PS2/GC)

Post Body

So I just recently replayed HP and the Sorcerers Stone on PS2 for the first time since childhood. And then played CoS after that.

Chamber or Secrets is a massive leap forward in almost every way, more interesting environments, more complete quidditch mini game, better collectibles, more spells.

And that all makes sense as a sequel… but then I look and see that CoS came out in 2002 and SS came out in 2003. So what gives? It seems like more than SS being a more rushed filler project, it seems like it must have been made first
