I had put my characters surname as Black, intending to roleplay as a member of that family to some extent. After playing the game a short while I was introduced to the headmaster, which seemed to make it so roleplaying as a member of his family but also him having no clue who you are wouldn't make any sense. Then after looking up if the game reacts to the family name you choose (which I couldn't find a straight answer for) I learned there is a quest where you have to find out what the Black family motto is.
I could deal with the headmaster and simply put down his attitude to treating all students the same or something, but having the character not know the motto of their own family kind of ruins it for me (unless of course, someone could think of a good backstory that still works, like the father being a squib).
But there's a good chance I'm just going to end up changing it if I can, so as a third question I ask to anyone who has played the game fully: What is a wizard family name I can pick which does not interfere with the story, or with which I could explain away with suspension of disbelief (like I originally planned with Black and the headmaster)?
p.s. to anyone wanting to pick a name. The character is a girl with black hair in a bun, no freckles or scars etc, hazel eyes.
