New brakes for Roscoe 6

I bought a roscoe 6 last year for my first mountain bike. After a few rides the rear brakes just don’t grab like I would like. I thought maybe the rotor had gotten something on it, so I replaced that, replaced the pads, and bled the brakes without success. Thinking about buying the shimano xt m8120. Will these just mount right on? Do I need a special rotor for them, or any other information would be helpful. Thanks!
