Sanding 650 sqft of red oak and 250 sqft of pine floors this weekend. First time refinishing floors, I’m confused about when to use the Square buff sander and what grits to use for it, I’d appreciate any advice.
Post Body

I’m using a drum sander and just finished with 36 grit, doing 60 grit next, then 80, so three passes with the drum sander. Would I then do a fourth pass with 100 grit on the Square buff? I’m planning on staining so I don’t want to go higher than 100 grit. I also got 80 grit for the square buff, would it be better to use that or the 100 grit on the red oak before staining?

After staining the red oak I plan to do two coats of bona mega one, go over it with 220 grit with the square buff, then do the final coat of finish.

On the pine floors I was planning to do 36, 60, 80 with the drum sander, then 120 with the square buff. After 120 grit, I’d apply 1 coat of Bona ClassicSeal, two coats of Mega One, go over with 220 on the square buff, and do my last coat of finish.

Should I sand between the first and second coat of finish? If so what grit should be used? Any other tips are appreciated.
