Question about towels

Greetings all! Today was my second time ever to an AMP, and I received a good massage. Nothing more than that, however.
I had stripped down naked, and laid the towel over my lower half. As soon as the MT walked in, she adjusted the towel to cover me from the neck down. Is it the norm in this community to just not bother with it at all (leave it sitting out), or ask the MT if it's alright to go without?
