How many more hours of driving would you recommend before a road test?
Post Body

(Originally posted on r/driving)

For context: I'm 20. At this moment in time, I'm halfway through my six lesson course, but they're not consecutive (two days the first week, one last week, and three back-to-back coming on this week). I generally feel confident about driving, though I need to practice steering turns, physically turning my body for blind spots, and general awareness of where the car is in the lane. Once these courses end, the only possible practice I will have without spending more money (read: putting it on credit) is the roughly thirty minute trip between my house and my mother's house (add 20 mins if we go to my aunt's house). That's only two days out of the week, max.

I don't want to rush the process, but the sooner I get my license, the sooner I can possibly get my mother's car and not have to pay Lyft (AND be able to pay off that debt) for work commute.

My current plan is this: I feel confident driving on main streets, so if I need to go to aunt's house, I'll see if my mother will let me drive us there. If I feel further comfortable on the interstate, I'll just see if she'd let me drive to and from her house, and wherever we need to go in-between.

I want to have a license by the end of July (sooner if I can get an appt), and a car before summer is over. Again, I don't want to rush this, but I'm anxious to a) have my own way around so I'm not paying varying Lyft fees, and b) pay off said Lyft fees so I can save money.
