_So you have a movie for me?
_Yes Sir, I do. It's about a city girl who finds love in a small town.
_Oh, we haven't made one of those in days, tell me about it!
_It's about this girl Cindy. She's a successful lawyer living in Manhattan.
_Oh, sorry, we don't have female leads older than 50.
_No, she's in her 30s.
_Oh, that's a truly successful lawyer.
_It is, but she's not that successful with her love life. All her relationships fail after a while.
_Really? What's wrong with her?
_Oh, no, there's nothing wrong with her, in fact she's perfect. It was the men she dated.
_What was wrong with them?
_They had minor flaws that made them deviate slightly from the archetype of male perfection.
_She can't have that.
_She can't. So her black best friend reminds her that she needs to start dating again because she's been single for four months!
_And what's her deal?
_Nothing, she's just there to let us know that Cindy has been single for a while and to list her pasts relationships.
_Okay then.
_So Cindy reminds her that she can't date anyone right now because she needs to focus on her career. She needs to save a ton of money to start her own firm.
_She could move somewhere cheaper.
_She won't.
_Well okay then.
_So she receives a letter from a lawyer informing her that her childhood neighbor passed away and left her a huge house in her home town.
_Young attractive successful female professionals are really lucky when it comes to inheriting stuff!
_They are! So selling this house can bring her the money she needs to start her firm.
_Our viewers love happy endings!
_No, the movie's not over yet. She's going to travel there.
_Why?
_To sign some papers.
_Can't she have them sent to Manhattan?
_Yes but I need her to travel there so the movie can happen.
_Okay then.
_So she visits the house and meets Tom.
_Who's Tom?
_He's been going there to do maintenance.
_Who's paying him?
_Unclear.
_Well okay then. So what's his deal?
_He's the town's handyman, he's friends with everyone there. He dreams on opening his own B&B but he's broke.
_So he immediately gets enchanted by Cindy?
_Not at all, he's going to be all super rude and passive-aggressive.
_Why?
_Because she comes from a big city!
_Okay then, but you do know we make romance movies here, right?
_I know, she doesn't mind his attitude at all.
_Why not?
_Because he's super hot.
_Women love rude and emotionally distant men if they're super hot.
_They do. So this black female real estate agent is going to show up and tell her that the house is falling apart and she should get a lot of things fixed if she wants to get a good deal.
_So what was Tom doing there all these time?
_What do you mean?
_If his job was to keep the house in good conditions why did he never fix those issues?
_Because he didn't exist before the movie started!
_Well okay then.
_So now Tom is super mad at her because she wants to sell the house.
_Why does he care?
_He's afraid that some really bad and unworthy people are going to buy it.
_Why would he think that? Like who?
_I don't know, some evil company that wants to tear it down and build a parking lot there.
_Still, why does he care?
_He was really attached to the previous owner and loves the town!
_So a woman who used to bake cookies with the former owner as a child, left to Manhattan to never check back on her again and found out about the owner's death only when she got notified about getting the house is worthy?
_Ups..
_Upsie..
_So she offers him a deal that if he helps her restore the house she'd let him have a say on whom she'd sell it to and he'd get 10% of the sale.
_Seems like she would greatly benefit from finding a less judgmental contractor.
_She would, but he's the only guy in town who knows how to nail things.
_Okay then. So I guess it's going to be tough for her to do all these physically demanding tasks that require a certain level of skill and practice.
_Actually it's going to be super easy, barely an inconvenience!
_Really?
_It is, in fact at one point they're painting the walls and they paint each other's nose and the situation quickly escalates into them straight out throwing paint at each other.
_Why do they do that?
_Because they're bonding.
_Paint bonding is tight!
_It is, and he's going to pour the entire bucket on her head.
_Oh she's going to be super furious!
_Not at all, in fact the scene fades to black with them laughing about it.
_But isn't it going to be a nightmare to wash it off her hair?
_I don't know.
_And they'll have to wash it from the walls and the floor. How do you even do that? With a mop or maybe a ton of newspapers?
_That's not the point..
_And they'll have to sand everything again..
_Look, the more you think about it, the less sense it's going to make to have two adults start a paint fight so I'm going to need you to get off my back on this.
_Well okay then. And do they finish the house?
_They do, with professional results! And here's where the plot thickens: she's going to get an offer for the house that turns out to be from her ex fiancé, who she had left because he spent too much time working and, you know, making money, but now wants to slow down and get away from the caos of the big city, and the encounter revives old feelings in them.
Remember she agreed to let him have a say in the sale? Well, this puts Tom in a dilemma..
_Wow wow wow! We don't have enough runtime for all that, can we just end the movie after they finish the house?
_Of course! She gets a good offer, agrees to sell it but that forces both of them to hurry up with the decisions so they decide they want to stay together, don't sell the house and open Tom's dream B&B there. We end with a passionate kiss.
_I'm not sure, can you make it even shorter?
_A very short and passionless kiss.
_Love it!
Edit: thanks so much for the award and the replies! Took a day of writing and two of polishing so the nice comments are really rewarding..
